Low Speed Buffers

Low speed buffers are typically used to clean, scrub or strip floors. When used with softer pads like white pads along with spray buff, they can be used to restore some gloss to a floor finish on a viny composition tile. However, this is not common as there are now high speed burnisher available that make this task easier. Low speed buffers also go by other names such as swing machines, side-to-side machines and standard floor machines to name a few. When used with soft brushes or red floor pads they can be used to clean a floor with a pH nuetral or an all purpose cleaner. When used with stiffer brushes or blue or green floor pads, they can be used along with an all purpose floor cleaner to top scrub or deep scrub a floor that may or may not have floor finish applied to it. When used with heavy duty stripping brushes or black, aggressive floor pads along with a commercial grade floor finish stripper low speed floor machines can be used to completely strip floor finish from a vinyl composition tile or stone floor.

High Speed Buffers

High speed buffers, or burnishers as they are often called, serve the purpose of restoring the gloss to a floor that has floor finish applied to it. They come in different rpm's that range from 1200 to over 3000. Typically, the most common rpm's range from 1500 to 2000. There are three different types of high speed burnishers. Wet/Dry Vacs

Wet/Dry vacs are just that . . . . they are commercial/industrial grade large capactiy vacuums that can pick up both wet and/or dry material from your floors. Most commonly they are used in the janitorial industry to help in picking up the slurry of dirt and chemical when cleaning or stripping floors. They can also be used to help extract water from flooded areas whether on carpet or hard surfaces. They can be fitted with front mounted squeegees for more productivity or with wands and hoses to help fit into tighter areas. The wands can be fitted with hard surface or carpet surface tools.

Carpet Extractors

Carpet extractors come in all shapes and sizes. They can be self-contained with automatic brushes that essentially work just like autoscrubbers on hard surface floors. Carpet extractors can also come with a tank style option where the operator uses a spray jet/wand attachment. The wand attachment allows the operator to be more maneuverable and to get into tighter spaces. Self-contained carpet extractors allow for much more productivity when the area to be cleaned is larger and more wide open such as a hallway. Carpet extractors can have heaters, recirculators to reuse and filter the water, and they can be used with all sorts of cleaning chemicals.

Dryers

Dryers are commercial grade floor machines designed to circulate air at a maximum rate in a room where water has been used or flooded. Floor dryers are used in both hard floor cleaning applications and carpeted applications. They help to remove as much moisture as possible from the areas that need to be dried in order to help you be more producitive with your time when on the job site.
