What’s the difference between lead acid vs lithium batteries?

Lithium batteries are a relatively newer technology that offer intelligence, communication, higher energy density and longer life, while eliminating the need for service and maintenance like watering and following complicated charging processes.

What is the life expectancy of a lithium battery?

These batteries were designed to last more than 2,000 charge cycles depending on the model, and may last as long as the system. The average cycle life of a lithium battery is 3-5x more than a lead acid battery.

How does Tennant ensure its batteries are safe?

There are many battery suppliers in the market who do not have agency certifications on the battery. These suppliers may only have safety certifications from the cell manufacturers, which is a component of the battery system. Tennant goes above and beyond by 1) testing and certifying their batteries against recognized global standards like UL and TUV for on/off-road applications and 2) complying with functional safety requirements to ensure potential issues are monitored, detected, and mitigated before they happen.

Similar to UL certification for all of the household electronics, it is equally important for larger batteries to have the proper agency certifications to ensure safety.

What are the charge times for lithium-ion vs. lead acid?

Typically, a Li-ion battery can charge within 3hrs (C/3) and lead acid around 10hrs (C/20) depending on the battery size.
